To See Doreen's Illustrations ...
Doreen creates her quirky creatures in her Hopewell, NJ studio/storefront. Inspired by love of E.H. Shepard, (The Wind in the Willows illustrator), William Holbrook Beard, anthropomorphism without sugar, vintage toys & all the old & wonderful books & beasts of her youth, lovingly given to her by her Grandma & Aunt.
Her creatures & tile stories have grown out of her many years of children's book illustration. She crafts each one out of polymer & multiple coats of oil paints, imbuing them with
attitude & emotion, getting the right turn of the head or rise of
the cheek.
Doreen's images have been used for books, magazines, toys, puzzles, greeting cards, Christmas ornaments & textiles. Clients have ranged from National Geographic, Unicef & Smithsonian to HBO, People Magazine & Newsweek.
